Welcome to Modern Defense Training.
All of our introductory courses are offered with a women-only option. We also offer private lessons in all disciplines for those who want to move at their own pace or receive additional attention.
We’ve noticed that in the beginning, our female students tend to shoot better than our male students. Why? Women don’t tend to copy what they have seen in movies and they approach shooting with a finesse that men often do not. Women also have fewer, if any, bad habits to break.
There are other differences as well. Women and men see spatial relationships differently. This spatial difference occurs in the brain; men tend to use one side of their brain at a time and women use both sides of their brain concurrently. This allows women to multi-task better, but it also creates different challenges when learning safe gun handling and marksmanship fundamentals. We know that men and women learn differently and that our physical nature dictates that what works for a man won’t necessarily always work for a woman (and vice versa).
Understanding these differences allows us to work around the issues women often have that typically keep them from enjoying shooting. We want your learning to shoot to be pleasant and fun.
Don’t hesitate to sign up for our co-ed training courses if they work for your schedule. The same instructors will teach both the men and women and proper attention will be given to all students.
